35 imagesObservations from within a spontaneous social-soundscape, in an attempt to channel feelings of those rhythms back into a series of photographs. The Tam-Tams is an informal drum circle that has occurred on most winterless Sundays in Montreal for over 40 years. This weekly urban 'coming-together' is a testament to successful living in a densely populated urban environment. It represents an evolved pastiche of cultural practices expressing a shared, love-of-the-city in the summer, a vibrant ritual of a successful melting pot of an expanded community that is affluent, homogenous, and inclusive. The Tam-Tams can be seen as an expression of a really good place to live. I have been making photos of this event since 1984. This selection from 2016 are some of the best photos I have made that capture the passions of the people who are drawn back every Sunday over so many years. Myself included. I will continue to expand this archive.
